"Beasts on Tel Aviv Rooftops"

It is an installation of paintings on brown wrapping paper featuring spontaneous works executed in thick black industrial oil paint. The Office is transformed into a sensual bubble of matter and colour that alters the office-like appearance of the gallery.

Alina wishes to state that human life is a labyrinth operated by an hourglass, Panerai Replica Watches and that man continues to search for balance within the madness. His thoughts writhe like intestines. He fears that time is running out.

The title of the exhibition, Beasts on Tel Aviv Rooftops, expresses the horror of a biological attack that may break out at any moment, perhaps even before the exhibition ever opens.

Speshilov is bound to the dread that occupies her mind and body; a fear that is both spiritual and physical. In her mind’s eye she sees the helicopters landing on the rooftops of Tel Aviv and sowing the seeds of sickness. She sees malevolent monsters and long-legged worms developing in the shadows. In time, the crows, the dogs and the cats come to eat the remains of lifeless man.

Tel Aviv becomes a frightening city of men losing any vestige of humanity in their lives or deaths. Only the animals are left to live in the city and roam its rooftops. Alina Speshilov lives and works in Tel Aviv. She studied Art in St. Petersburg, where she was born in 1973. She came to Israel in 1990, and in 1996 received a B.A. in Archaeology and Near Eastern Cultures from Tel Aviv University. She studied painting and drawing with artist Ira Rauchwarger in Jaffa for four years.
